Autumn.2023Málaga’s candidature to host the 2027 World Expo “The Urban Era: towards the Sustainable City” is a proposal that connects with and is based on the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. A 25 hectare plot located in a meeting place of the university, industry, the river and its natural space, and major road infrastructures, is assigned to host the three month duration event.
The proximity to Technological Park, Trade Fair and Congress Centre, airport and train, and Guadalhorce ecological corridor set an urban framework to promote dialogues accross productive zones and environmental systems. The brief goes beyond the conception of the event to rethink the vision of the city´s sustainable development with or with no event in this district together with the adjacent vocation of the productive zones.
Participants in the Autumn Semester Programme 2023 will investigate urban challenges in this context to discover opportunities for projects that can foster the resilient and sustainable development of the urban fabric.
